Photo details: Sitting in the cockpit before taking off for Labuan airstrip, Warrant Officer Colin Beech is returning to Australia with fourteen other Spitfires of No 457 Squadron on 19 th October 1945. This was made with the purpose of reducing air strength in Borneo. He was farewelled by Flight Lieutenant D. H. MacLean, the last commanding officer of No 457 Squadron.
