Posted from No 452 Squadron (RAAF). Native of New South Wales.

Achieved one tour of operations in Middle East serving with No 450 Sqn (RAAF) December 1941 to March 1942. Then moved to No 250 Sqn (Sudan) in March to July 1942.

Sent back to Australia in March 1944. Second tour of operations with No 452 Squadron in October 1944.

End of operations with No 452 Sqn in October 1944. End of operational tour of duty in July 1945.

A flight commander after J.L. Strurm's death, between 18/12/44 and 23/7/45 replaced by J.G.B. Campbell.
